Bill Burr is an American comedian, actor and writer. Born William Frederick Burr in Canton, Massachusetts, to his mother Linda Ann, a nurse, and his father Robert Edmund Burr, a dentist. Burr describes his childhood as “difficult.” He was the youngest of six children and struggled with anger issues due to his tumultuous home life.
Burr dropped out of high school in his senior year but managed to earn his GED at a later date and attend community college. However, he did not last long there and left shortly after enrolment. Nevertheless, despite his troubling early years, Burr says he is grateful for his upbringing, which helped develop his sense of humor. He often references his childhood during his stand-up shows.
Burr began his career in comedy in the 1990s and performed at comedy clubs and open mic nights in New York City. His breakthrough came in 2005 after appearing on various TV shows and comedy specials such as, "F is For Family," "The Mandalorian," and "Breaking Bad." He has also made several appearances on the Chappelle Show.
Burr has released many successful comedy albums and specials. He has also starred in several films such as, "The King of Staten Island," "Old Dads" and "Crashing."
